As of mid-2026, over 8.5 million children in Sudan remain out of school, representing more than half of all school-aged children. Approximately 1,100 schools are closed / non-functional due to ongoing conflict and displacement, while an estimated 520 days of learning have been lost since the outbreak of civil unrest. Child malnutrition continues to rise, with around 850,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in conflict-affected regions.
